A fabulous rule of thumb when it comes to health and fitness is this: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There’s no question you will see quick results if you quit eating sugar or carbohydrates because you are eliminating such a significant amount of calories from your body. Metabolism is the rate at which your body burns calories and is unique to us all. Your metabolic rate can be altered by both your fitness program as well as your nutritional intake. For example: the more lean muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn. According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), one pound of muscle tissue burns between 35-50 calories per day. Contrarily, one pound of fat burns only 2-3 calories per day.
Eating smaller, more frequent meals helps maintain a steady blood sugar level which allows your metabolism to constantly work at peak performance. Eating every 3-4 hours keeps your metabolism constantly working and doesn’t allow it a chance to slow and store calories as fat.
