Obesity

Obesity by definition is when a person is carrying too much body fat for their height and weight. A person is considered obese if they have a Body Mass Index (BMI) – (weight in kilograms divided by their height in meters squared) - of 30 or greater. We all know that weight gain is usually due to poor lifestyle habits of inactivity and overeating. Understanding that lack of exercise leads to weight gain is a no- brainer. Overeating however can be less obvious and unless you learn how to identify and ultimately control the habit, obesity can easily take over your life.

At Empowering Punch, we teach you how to identify the reasons for overeating and recognize the origin of the habit. More importantly, through training and nutritional education, we empower you to break those habits.

Overeating sneaks into your day in all sorts of ways. Pinpointing where, when and why you overeat is the first step in changing the habit. Do you eat if you’re in a social setting when your friends are eating even if you’re not hungry? (Social eater) Do you run for your favorite comfort food every time you feel depressed or stressed out? (Emotional eater) Can’t pass by a bakery or bypass the popcorn at the movies? (Situational eater) These are very common behaviors that lead to obesity and the sooner we can identify problem, the sooner we can teach you how to correct it.
